Summary/Abstract: One of the most important Romanian pianists of the twentieth century, Alexandre Demetriad was born on 28 March 1903 in a village near Tecuci and died on 2 April 1983 in Bucharest. He was first a student at Târgu Mures, of Arpad Laszlo and Richard Chovan, and later in Paris, of Noël Gallon, Paul Dukas, Lazare Levy, Alfred Cortot and Ignacy Paderewski. Here I l fu colleague with Joaquin Rodrigo. He was one of the best interpreters of romantic composers - Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Schumann - and those of the early twentieth century - Ravel, Debussy, Poulenc, Enesco, Jora and others. He was soloist of the Philharmonic "George Enesco" of Bucharest.
