Summary/Abstract: The National Museum of History of Romania holds an important bed of pieces concerning the life and activity of Mihail Kogălniceano, an important personality of the Romanian political life of the second half of the 19th century. The author focuses mainly on the historian Michail Kogălniceano of fragments of discourse sustained, in 1843, on the occasion of the opening lesson of the course of national history of the Academy Michelienne de lassy, is presented the conception Of the historian as far as national history is concerned. In the same way, the qualities that an historian must accomplish are highlighted. The author also presents the crucial moments of the Romanian history of the nineteenth century during which Mihail Kogălniceano had an important contribution - the Revolution of 1848, the Union of the Principalities, the Independence of 1877
