Summary/Abstract: The basic information on microfilming, keeping, maintaining and use of microfilms as well as preparing of documents for microfilming are given in this article. An obligation to make a list with the archival time for document related to selection of documents to be microfilmed is also mentioned here. In addition, outlined are the concepts of scanning of documents, minimal configuration of the scanning equipment and use of documents memorised this way. Actually, the answer to dilemma: to scan, or to microfilm, is offered here.
