Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is anti-discrimination regulations in European Union. It examines the legal basis of the non-discrimination and equality regarding to the area of employment and occupation. The regulations against workplace discrimination are included in the primary and secondary sources of European Union law. European directives enacted on foot of the article 19th Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union are fundamentals for working against discrimination. These directive forbid discrimination based on race, ethic, origin, religion, belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and other listed grounds at hiring, firing, job advertisements and other terms and conditions of employment. This article contains an analysis definitions of direct and indirect discrimination and another prohibited way of treatment having its definition in European directives. It also shows the case study of the European Court of Justice in this field.
