Summary/Abstract: This article presents the features of Russian emigration in France from the end of the XIXth century to the inter-war period and puts emphasis on a fact of distinction between French reality and Russian myths concerning the same time. For example, some researchers note the overstatement in Russian emigrants’ opinion about the deficiency in the cultural contacts with French elites and lack of their influence on Russian literary creativity. Others consider that Russia abroad is the myth too, by reason of the absence of basic social Russian stratum the peasants in France. Many researchers raise doubts concerning statistical data and too hagiographic character of some Russian authors’ publications.
