Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at approaching the horizon of classical and late modernity. Even if the process of modernization results in the restructuring of the relation of the various forms of social integration, that does not imply the complete elimination of any forms. Rather, modernization should be interpreted as a process formed in the interaction of the various forms of integration. Theorists of classical and late modernity, such as Bourdieu and Habermas or Giddens and Lash attempt to identify and analyze specific forms of social integration. In the paper an attempt is made to reveal the relationship of these different forms of social integration and to elaborate a comprehensive approach capable of grasping the various emancipatory and pathological potentials in a unified model.
