Summary/Abstract: Today, Ballistic Threat and Ballistic Missile Defense are influencing equally, behind the technical and operational challenges, the international security arena by affecting military dimension of states security and their security dilemma. The article analyses the characteristics and the peril of ballistic threat, the operational concepts and technical accomplishments of combating them, the different international actors' position in missile defense regard, the actuality of missile shield and security and operational conclusions of using and combating ballistic missiles.
