Donations to the Church and the Development of Moldavian Piety

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to assess and reconstruct Moldavian piety during the 15 and 16th centuries, on the basis of attitudes and motives which compelled the faithful to endow the church. This tends to show how deeply the discourse of the church reached within society and how the faithful understood the idea that salvation could be achieved through faith and good works.
