Summary/Abstract: This paper is an attempt for a detailed presentation of the organiza-tional and economic problems in the educational system of Bulgaria through a critical analysis of the approved and effective strategies and reforms in compliance to the EU requirements. The main issues reviewed concern the disadvantages of the system as well the basic objectives and action plan, envisaged in the „National program for devel-opment: Bulgaria 2020“ and the „Strategy for development of higher education in Re-public of Bulgaria for the period of 2014-2020.“
