CUSTOMS INVESTIGATION – STATE, PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES

Summary/Abstract: In view of the dynamically changing environment in which the cus-toms administration has to operate, there exist necessity to understand the outstanding role and importance of highly effective customs investigation. It is a fact, that crimes and violations against the customs regime, which customs investigation should fight, are of extremely high degree of public danger as they affect not only the economic and social security of Bulgaria and its citizens, but also the safety of the European Union in general and the international economic relations.In this context, the paper explores the state of customs investigation, both within the EU and Bulgaria, outlines the technology of its application and analyses some of its problem areas in order to look for reserves to increase its efficiency.
