THE METAMORPHOSIS OF CONSUMPTION

Summary/Abstract: The economic development of the society changed consumption substantially – its content, its role and importance. The meaning of consumption has until recently been limited to a process of satisfying human needs, which is no longer sufficient as a formulation.Modern interpretation of household consumption is analyzed in several as-pects: first, a combination of social and economic relations concerning the satisfaction of human needs; second, a cycle of income and expenditures of households; third, an element of aggregate demand, whose amount determines the rate of economic growth; forth, a source of reproduction of human capital as a key factor for development; fifth, qualitative and quantitative characteristic of the standard of living.
