Summary/Abstract: In 1902, Mary attended a ballet performance of Loïe Fuller at the Romanian National Theatre in Bucharest. Impressed by the show, Princess Mary gave Loïe Fuller a photo of hers with a dedication. But Loïe Fuller and Mary's friendship was sealed when, a few days after the show, the Crown Prince helped Loïe solve one of her old financial problems. The two women kept a correspondence for the rest of their lives. This article presents a letter sent by Queen Mary on the 9th of March 1927, in which she writes to her friend, Loïe Fuller, about the pain which the tumultuous life of Prince Carol, who had given up the throne for a woman, was causing her.
