Summary/Abstract: According to the generally accepted definition of citation, it is a literal repetition of someone's or his speech. Analytical exploration of the problem led to the conclusion that such "technical" approach to the problem does not characterize it. We need to add a humanist layer to it. Then the citation is clearly marked and described statement included in the author's text, for which it has an auxiliary (subsidy) function - not a helpful, ornamental or complementary. A real citation is to discover the truth. It is also a community-forming tool.
