Summary/Abstract: Mikhail Dmitriev (1796–1866) — a poet, literary critic and translator; author of two memory volumes: Bits and Pieces from my Memories and Chapters from Memories of my Life (many fragments of Bits…were included by Dmitriev in the Chapters…). In his writing, Dmitriev kind of braces the 18th century with the fi rst half of the 19th century. Bits… (the first 1854 book edition) — a book about Russian writers (M. Lomonosov, etc.) and their compositions, about translators, magazines, literary disputes, etc. The author pays particular attention to N. Karamzin (Frol Silin, etc.) and his relative, the poet I. Dmitriev.
