Summary/Abstract: In the article I provide an overview of the issues, principles, and practices associated to integration process in higher education. The research idea is focused on higher education establishments from Eastern European countries, which attempt to integrate in the European Higher Education Area. I analyze and show the commonalities and differences of the academic communities in EaP countries. I consider the question of how the key components of integration (values, norms, traditions and national policies) play out in face-to-face interactions; the incentives, and barriers on the way towards effective integration. I describe the concept of integration from the angle of cultural dimensions introduced by G. Hofstede.
