Summary/Abstract: The author presents a biography of János Estarházy, a count and politician of the Czech-Slovakia Hungarian minority, deriving from one of the oldest Hungarian noble families. Also, the author presents his connections with Poland, particularly strong because of his Polish origin. Estarházy’s influence on shaping the Czech-Slovakia, Hungarian and Polish politics (among others covering the attempts to create a block of the Central Europe before the World War II, as well as its protective activity in relation to Polish refuges in Hungary and Slovakia after September 1 1939 is presented. Also, the circumstances of Estarházy’s postwar arrest and exile in the Russian Republic of Komi are shown, and his death in the Czech-Slovakia (as a result of extradition from the USSR).
