Summary/Abstract: Throughout history there have been various critiques, objections and resistance toward ideas and attempts for realization of establishment of the World State with the help of universalistic ideals and support for the peace and order. A prevailing standpoint in political philosophy and practical politics has been the one regarding civilized societies on the planet that have been organized in separate political communities that are inter- related in different ways. Although in most of the cases there has not been argumentation to it, the standpoint seemed to be an obvious one and also easily visible in the light of abandoning the idea on the World State and in historical perspective it has been possible to point out development of the critique on the idea on the World State. In this paper there is analyzed a transformation of the critique from the age of antic stoics, through early Christian and medieval church leaders, to contemporary critics of social sciences, and it presents three groups of argumentation against the World State. First group consists of “geographic argumentation” that has been dominant since the age of Augustine to the age of Pufendorf, who argued that the idea on the World State is opposed to physical-geographical characteristics, or socio- geographical and cultural differences between the people and nations. Second group of argumentation is regarded to “sceptic argumentation” that jointly stand for the conclusion that predicted benefits from the establishment of the World State either are fewer than the losses, or completely fruitless ones, primarily in regard to institutional prevention of emergence of the wars and preservation of the peace in the world. Third group of argumentation is focused on the fear of transformation of political cosmopolitan idealism to a frightening way of global tyranny destroying the freedoms of individuals and social collectivities due to influence of realistic circumstances.
