Summary/Abstract: In this work photography is treated as an element of the world of spectacle. Author writes about the significance of photography and other forms of technically reproduced images in the promotion of dominant discourses of spectacles, whether being economic or ideologic. In the first part of the article, he discusses notion of spectacle in order to set the frame for theoretical observations and analysis of all kinds of technically reproduced images. Than he focuses on photography and its use in contemporary media and art. In conclusion, author analyses reality that could be altered by subversive and alternative visual arts, in which photography also takes a significant part.
