Summary/Abstract: We call Mary – Mother of Jesus, the Mother of God’s mercy, because of at least two reasons imposing in connection with its place in a salvation history. Firstly, the way God creates her and lavishes due to the anticipated birth of His Son – Jesus Christ, whose mother she is. A sin that moves people away from God, who invariably loves and responds mercifully, is completely removed from the life of Mary. This should be considered as a special kind of charity, preparing the Mother of Jesus to fulfill her proper vocation that is realized in her divine motherhood. Another expression of God’s mercy to Mary is her Assumption, in which she is the first among people who can enjoy the closeness of God in the unity of body and soul. Not only does she announce it but already participate in something that is prepared for those who are open for mercy and cooperate with it. Finally, as the Mother of the Saviour of the world, Mary is united with Him in His way and paschal mystery. Through this relationship she works with God’s grace, showing mercy to those most in need, given also to the Church founded by Jesus, and she is the Merciful Mother.
