Summary/Abstract: The article considers the role of qualitative interview in language research. Qualitative Research is primarily exploratory research. Qualitative interview as a kind of Qualitative Research is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations of respondents. The choice of interview should reflect the goals and stage of the research. In language research Expert Interview can often be noticed. Expert interviews consist of several key questions that help to define the areas to be explored. In language research qualitative interviews may be most useful in combination with more objective or quantitative measures and indicators.
