Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper was to show that internet memes overcome national borders and that the only limiting factor in their propagation is Internet access, all of which puts them in the domain of global communication. Starting from a hypothesis that Internet memes do belong to the mentioned domain, a research was conducted, separated in three theses. Goal of the research was to prove that internet memes have crucial characteristics of information that is of interest to global communication. Research results show that internet memes are accessed by users from at least 23 countries, that there are at least 5 public web sites where one can find, view or download memes, as well as that internet memes are viewed by multi-million audiences. This proves our hypothesis, and thus can be concluded that internet memes represent an inevitable aspect of global communication.
