Summary/Abstract: In this paper we wanted to present developments in the criminal environmental law, in particular with regard to criminal liability for pollution worldwide. First we analyze the speed of development and strengthening of environmental law in the sense that in a relatively short time principles were consolidated and rules arose with immediate application and impact. In part, this rate of evolution is due to the global nature of the material effects that are targeted and criminalized in environmental law: trans boundary pollution, environmental crime, uncontrolled resource exploitation; phenomena which in recent years have escalated to alarming levels. Environmental law, although it is a separate and independent branch of law, cannot be analyzed without having regard to its interdependence with other branches of law, particularly international law. This becomes apparent when developing new international rules with immediate application focusing especially on environmental law, therefore it can be described as a legal experimentation workshop.
