Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to obtain empirical data about the influence of global news agencies on foreign policy sections of the Macedonian daily newspapers, and thus to confirm or reject theoretical statements about the monopoly on information about world events from global news agencies and the degree of dependence on them in Macedonian print media. Using the method of content analysis, the research gathered data for one-month period about questions related to the source of content, and a number of sources of information, their geographic origin and genres of texts taken from global agencies. For the question related to the sources of information, research has proved the great influence of transnational news agencies over the textual content of the newspaper Vest and over the other kinds of content of the newspaper Nova Makedonija. The results show that, in relation to textual content, newspapers Nova Makedonija and Utrinski vesnik are largely independant from global news agencies. The alarming data show that most of the content in foreign policy sections is published without the source of information, especially regarding the photographic material. Results for individual newspapers show that the majority of content about international events in newspapers Vecer, Vreme and Dnevnik is published without the source of information. The great impact of global news agencies has been confirmed in all daily newspapers in terms of number of information sources and geographical origin of texts taken from the transnational news agencies in foreign policy section. The relation between the genres of texts taken and dependence on global agencies has not been confirmed in this research.
