Summary/Abstract: The paper relates the plans of realization of the research project “Digital Corpus of the Old Polish Texts” (EKTS). Its aim is to make the oldest preserved monuments of the Polish language publically accessible in the form of an open-access specialist database. The article discusses the main problems occurring while working with the linguistic material consisting of the Polish continuous texts from the oldest preserved sources written before the end of the 15th century. The authors review the previous attempts of creating a corpus of medieval texts, characterize its sources and discuss some specific features of the Old Polish language. On that basis the main theoretical assumptions and the structure of the project is presented. EKTS will operate on principles similar to those of the other corpora of the Polish language of different periods, which will allow their interoperability within diachronic corpus.
