Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to Semyon Frank’s interpretation of the problem of humanism in the works of Dostoyevsky. The author of the study points at the relationship between the irrational nature of a man and the so-called miracle of freedom thinking of the issue of Christian humanism in the works of Russian writer. According to Frank’s opinion Dostoyevsky is far from any idealization of a man: a human being on the pages of his works is the opposite of the good man of the Enlightenment, guided by reason and the romantic “beautiful and noble soul”. Frank notes that what is a source of evil in a man becomes for Dostoyevsky a source of his justification. The author examines Leontyev’s interpretation of some ideas of the author of the novel The Brothers Karamazov in the final part of the study. The main observation that Leontyev addresses to Dostoevsky refers to the idea of “pink”, i.e. philanthropic Christianity and to the idea of so-called neochristianity, which is not unrelated to the Orthodox Church, but touching the problems of the humanities; Dostoyevsky does not take into account the prophecies relating to the coming of the Antichrist as well as evil, which lurks in a man. These charges (especially the last) are understood by the author of the article as not sufficiently substantiated in the context of the interpretation of Frank. It is important for him to focus on the attention of Dostoyevsky to the human freedom. Freedom as a crucial point of Christianity is something extremely valuable to Dostoyevsky; freedom — the great mystery of Christianity.
