Summary/Abstract: The article presents the most important information from a nearly one-hundred-year history of the University Library of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin including its location, collections, directors and workers. The significance of the library and its most valuable collections was highlighted. The author specified the daily tasks carried out by the library in order to keep up with current trends in librarianship. Today, still the most important task is to fulfil readers’ information, academic and educational needs through making library materials available, these from Gutenberg’s era and those in electronic version, expected by Homo interneticus.
