Summary/Abstract: In this article we are examining the necessity and characteristics of modern cultural projects in connection with the politics as the management of culture. We analyze the experience of creating a unique project “Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center” (“Yeltsin - Center”) in Yekaterinburg (Ural region capital of Russia on the border of Europe and Asia) as a complex and controversial mega-project in the world of cultural politics of the first decades of the XXI century. Boris Yeltsin (01.02.1931 - 23.04.2007) was the first President of Russia (1991 - 1999) who created a kind of phenomenon of the “Yeltsin era”, which now affects the current policy of his associates and successors. The newly created Yekaterinburg grand multipurpose cultural-political complex (comprising, as a fundamental principle of “Yeltsin Museum”) is the largest in Russia and truly tries to express the spirit and image of this era.
