Summary/Abstract: The article presents the growth of a new speciality “Social Pedagogy” in Bulgaria. It has been established in the beginning of 90th years of 20th century in Faculty for Primary and Preschool Education at Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski”. The latter fact marks a new stage of development of the pedagogical science and university education. This article presents and makes a critical analysis of the achievements in the preparation of social pedagogy specialists in the three degrees of the tertiary education on the basis of the department of “Social Pedagogy and Social Work” in Sofia University’s experience.
