Summary/Abstract: The paper is dedicated to the image of modern Russia’s “drunkworld” in the eyes of Polish journalists. The author points out to the notion of heavy drinking as a part of Russian national culture. She underlines both the literal and symbolic aspects of Russian drinking. Also, she describes the local patterns of drinking as well as customs and philosophy related to the alcohol.
