Summary/Abstract: In this article author presents his childhood. Because he was born in 1940 the reader can know the second part of the forties and the fifties on the basis of his own life. In his childhood he lived in a farm in Hajdúbihar county besides of the Tisza river, on the edge of Hortobágy in the triangle Tiszafüred – Debrecen – Nyíregyháza. The author presents his family dealing with agriculture. We know his sisters, father, mather, grandparents and the neighborhood of the farm. We can know the everyday life of a family having about a land of 18 acres and we can know the effects of the Second World War and the changes of the political life in Hungary in the light of this family life.
