Folk Names for ’icicle’ in the Komi Language

Summary/Abstract: This is the first ever survey of the names of icicles used in the dialects of the Komi-Zyrian language. The analysed items include both native lexical unit (words and phrases) and lexemes borrowed from Russian dialects. The analysis proves that many of the native names have a transparent internal form. Some semantic models used in the naming of icicles are identified.
