Summary/Abstract: Idioms in any language are an interesting linguistic phenomenon which not only enriches the possibilities of expression but also reflects the linguistic picture of the world of those who use this language. In this regard particularly interesting are those similarities between the idioms in different languages which develop in parallel or due to mutual influences. The aim of this paper is to focus on such idioms whose main component is the lexeme “head” in Bulgarian, Serbian and Turkish. The examples are excerpted from several phraseological dictionaries. The paper will try to present and compare those expressions and to propose an explanation for the similarities between these three Balkan languages.
