Summary/Abstract: The article proposes a new classification of political parties in Poland, based on the survey of political parties against the paradigms of modernization of the state. To verify the hypothesis according to which this issue can effectively prioritize political parties, a catalogue of issues dividing supporters of different patterns of development was prepared. In the next step the catalogue was tested against two biggest political parties competing in the campaign for the European Parliament in 2014. The results of the study of their election programs seem to confirm the usefulness of a new way of organizing the parties in Poland (and perhaps in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe).
