Summary/Abstract: The paper concludes that, as far as the mentioned work is concerned, essay represents the most natural literary and formal equivalent of the reality which Anzaldúa writes about and that she intentionally uses it when she speaks of her personal opinions related to questions such as history, culture, tradition, gender roles and identity of Latin American ethnic groups.
