Legitimacy issues of any power as a condition of its position and influence

Summary/Abstract: The position and influence of any kind of power, especially state power, depends on the acceptance of its subordinate subjects. This text discusses the main legitimacy issues of the four types of state power – democratic, dictatorship, authoritarian and totalitarian. The etymological meaning of the names given to these powers plays a major role in their variety of interpretations. From a comparative point of view an equally important role is played by knowledge devoted to political extremism.
