Summary/Abstract: Memoirist prose by Stanislav Krakov highly corresponds to novels and short stories because of method used for structuring and because of the scenes we find in both genres. Therefore, the idea of this paper is to present memoirs The Life of a Man in the Balkans independently and in relation to to novels, primarily in relation to the novel Wings. Life of a man, which refracts destiny of whole nation, war, death, laughter and sexual drive are dominant elements of this novel. Events which Krakov describes in memoirs can be found in novels where they are often ironized or parodied. Apart from this, we have analyzed method for structuring memoirs, focusing on form and plot and we have pointed to their novel-like nature and traces of kinostil (prose/narrative style inspired by the dynamic and visual language of the cinema) in memoirs, which is the dominant method for structuring the novel Wings. It is pointed out that, in parts of the memoirs where Krakov describes battles in the First World War, he uses kinostil to describe the dynamics of war.
