DEFENSE OF TRADITION THROUGH THE FOLKLORE PATTERN OF THE CHRONICLE OF PERUN’S DESCENDANTS BY DESANKA MAKSIMOVIĆ

Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with folklore patterns in the collection The Chronicle of Perun’s Descendants by Desanka Maksimović, which were presented through the paradigm of intersection of pagan and Christian motifs. Folklore motives were viewed as a matrix of tradition, which moves on the edges of history and religion in The Chronicle of Perun’s Descendants. The peculiarity of the poet is the compression of folklore through oral and cultural heritage, which implies a complex system of the collection, accompanied by a preface, as a certain historical weft. The stereotypical folklore motifs, built into the system of Desanka Maksimović, reflect a semantic possibility and are observed as associative links with religious and historical motifs, which form a unified principle of tradition.
