Summary/Abstract: In this article considered the period after the Tunisia's independence. The basis of the article was one of the first to set forth a document entitled Code of personal status. On the example of the Code, the author examines the modernization processes in the Republic of Tunisia, in particular gender. Highlights the status of women in society and the changes that have occurred in favor of their rights. The author also noted that there are certain drawbacks of this legislation, in particular issues related to inheritance.
