Summary/Abstract: The article reflectes the moments of civil servant and archivist activities fulfilled by Vasile Alecsandri. It is highlighted the reasons why the younger Vasile Alecsandri was promoted to the rank of Spathar (sword-bearer), then the great Spathar (sword bearer).
