Summary/Abstract: In the contemporary all time more global world, there are two kinds of assignment in front of the students: on one side the students must direct themselves into the regularity of specialization and on the other, they must adapt to the conditions imposed by the process of globalization. One of these conditions is good knowledge of foreign languages, especially of the most important ones. On the example of the lexeme Geld, we wanted to show that that it is not in any case an easy assignment because the foreign languages, and so does German, abound in phraseologisms – the syntagms whose total meaning differs from the collective meaning of individual components.
