Summary/Abstract: The housing problem in Russia is discussed in terms of socio-economical and ideological-political problems of the state. Modern trends in the development of economical science methodology and their impact on the solution of housing issue in Russia are analyzed. Market imperfections and their role in the acute problem of housing availability in post-reform Russia are considered. The challenges in housing supply and demand and its equilibrium price in Russia are studied. The socially-oriented approach to the solution of housing problem is proposed.
