Text Linguistic Analyses: Muzaffer İzgü’s Story, Yedi Uyurlar

Summary/Abstract: In this study Muzaffer İzgü’s Yedi Uyurlar Story is analysed by text linguistic methods. Since text linguistics is a science that analyses the relationships between structures beyond sentence and determines the regularity of the production and comprehension of texts, text linguistics method was used in this study. Text linguistic methods allow a detailed analysis of microstructure, which concerns stylistic aspect of a text, and macro structure, which concerns semantic aspect of a text. The first part of this study gives information on the concepts of text and text linguistics; as for the second part, it examines the structure of the text in detail. The structure of the text is evaluated in two parts as microstructure and macrostructure. Repetitions, anaphoric references, cataphoras, implicit expressions, ellipsis structures and correlation elements were determined, thus microstructure of the text was analysed. As for the macrostructure of the text, consistency of the text, narrator and aspect, characters of the story, time and location of the story and overall semantic structure of the story were analysed.
