Summary/Abstract: The present article explores the developments within the OSCE, within a historical context when Romania had the position of Chairmanship in 2001 and tries to suggest that some national interests can be translated and reviewed in the international debates among the member states, according to a clear organizational agenda. One of the main challenges of the institutional reform of the OSCE was to develop a functional framework where specific European conflicts can be managed before their violent manifestation. To this end, the developments within the OSCE had a major contribution to regional stability and several influences can be tracked in Romania’s position toward a more open and positive approach of the conflict management.
