YouTube Video Comments in the Context of Nationanl Identity War in the Medium of Elecrtonic Culture

Summary/Abstract: Together with written culture, which come after oral culture, changing in structure of communication is attracted attention. Difference between oral and written culture has been studied. Third of cultural mediums is described as electronic cultural medium. Electronic culture is come out as a fact that is extended cultural mediums circles. Internet, which is one of the electronic cultural field, is a cultural medium in which people whose number unknown, located in there. People could make lots of things from shopping to share knowledge in Internet. But as well as pragmatic purpose, they take part in Internet for he purpose of introduce to national identity, establishing superiority over the other and arguing with them. In this paper youtube video comments about Turkish and Grek virtual wars are discussed. YouTube video webside’s datums (www.youtube.com) are used. Comments take part under the Turkish- greek national football match videos, videos about sight of Istanbul and Izmir cities etc., video of a Turkish or Greek song or created deliberately videos contain insult and swearing. And this video comments turn into a stage of examining Turkish- Greek relationship and try to gain advantage of two nations over the each other. Reason and content of dissussion and how they are percieved as national identity wars is tackled and also national identity wars.
