Summary/Abstract: This report contains an analysis of the pottery out of a single pit structure from an early pottery-bearing site in the Teleorman River valley in South Romania, near the city of Alexandria. A technological and morphological assessment is presented based on precise quantitative data. The material is shown to have strong links with early assemblages from Romania, Northern Bulgaria and Serbia, all dated at about 6,000-5,900 cal BC. The ceramics appear to stand at the beginning of and fit into the Starčevo-Criş continuum as excavated from the main site Măgura-Buduiasca (Teleor 003), to the extent that the label ‘Criş I’ is justified, contra the ‘Precriş’ option.
