Summary/Abstract: The number of children’s museums, where are places that encourage curiosity and sitimulate learning while bringing families and children together in a new kind of town square where play inspires life long learning, have increased rapidly in the last 30 years. Children’s museums are primarily based on the development of children, give priority to learning through play and discovery through technology, hands-on exhibits and interactive museum activities related to museum’ exhibitions. These new age museums, where visitors could find interactive exhibitions through natural history, history, archeology and arts are established for individuals rather than the objects and contributed the idea of contemporary museums. These new museums which are established for individuals provide rich learning environments develop interactive exhibitions and learning programmes, encourage children to explore through games and play, support the activities which develop creativity and imagination abilities of children, improve the motivaion of exploring, prepare contents which can develop intergenerational family interaction and co-operation and motivate children to develop positive attitutes about different cultures and cultural diversity. This study focuses on children’s museums in the United States of America and their organizational structures, philosophies, historical backgrounds, descriptions, missions and objectives which are related to museums’ permanent and temporary exhibitions and several were also included in the study.
