Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we present a comparison between literature and psychoanalysis based on literary theory and some of the most important psychological theories available in Serbian and similar languages. Research is focused on two different periods which were strongly influenced by psychoanalysis – Serbian avant-garde literature and postmodern literature. We also present different psychoanalytic theories of the textual unconsciousness and human psyche according to postmodern theory which places the great emphasis on ideological and cultural pluralism.
