Westernization of popular music. Causes, mechanisms, consequences

Summary/Abstract: Western World have had a strong influence on culture. This is still visible in different artistic fields, especially in popular music. Westernization, technological development and impact of global corporations and music labels, leads to changes in almost every social function of music. This article presents changes in aesthetics, communication, expression, usability, integration and social ties, and impact of politics and economics. It focuses on the set of events that caused for example simplification and commodification of music, also musical weariness and apathy, as well as the weakening of social bonds and isolation.
