Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to describe the use of communication strategies by equity analysts in the reports that they prepare. The author uses quantitative data analysis to identify and quantify the use of communication strategies on a sample of 80 analytical reports concerning KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Orange Polska SA and Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. over the period from 2010 to 2015. The results show that the use of strategies depends on the type of recommendation being made: buy, hold or sell. Buy reports are strongly positive in tone. Sell reports are characterised by the greater use of explanatory language, they are longer and more complex. Hold reports contain more references to the analysts’ personal opinions.
