Communication between disabled people and emergency services using modern mobile technologies

Summary/Abstract: Communication between emergency services and the disabled is still difficult due to the lack of full implementation of modern technologies in the whole country and spreading awareness among citizens. Emergency services in Poland based on the National Rescue and Firefighting System run smoothly, but one of the conditions of their functioning is that they always have to reach people in need in time, including people with disabilities. On the market there are solutions, allowing for their smooth functioning. Such innovations may include, inter alia, all the mobile devices. They should be disseminated, preceded by a campaign aimed at broadening the knowledge of society in communication with the disabled, because they are citizens and work together on this so that they can feel and operate on an equal basis with the general population. The next step is to carry out research dedicated to particular groups of people with disabilities, to identify their specific needs and problems. By doing so existing applications can be adapted to be used by every citizen in our country.
